This is our first release from an experiment at Kininvie Works to investigate triple distillation mass balance. The resulting whisky has notes of pear drops and sweet candy. The parcel of Malt selected to bottle for this release have been aged in Ex Bourbon American Oak Casks filled in 2013.
When comparing this parcel of Malt to a typical Kininvie of the same age and cask type, we found a clear difference in the flavour profile. This was explained by a distinct increase in the total number of ester compounds, including small chain flavour compounds, when going from a standard Kininvie spirit to a triple distilled Kininvie spirit.
